We Believe

The Bible

The Bible is inspired by the Spirit of God and written by human authors. It is God’s self-revelation to mankind with the purpose of redeeming humanity. It is entirely truthful and without error, therefore trustworthy and reliable. The Bible is the supreme authority and standard for Christian faith and life.
(Matt. 5:17-18; 2 Tim. 3:15-17; 2 Pet. 1:19-21)

God

There is one true and living God. Besides Him, there is no other. He is the Creator and Sovereign of the universe. The eternal Triune God reveals Himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — three distinct persons sharing the same essence, nature, and being.
(Gen. 1:1, 26–27; Ps. 90:2; Isa. 45:18, 21–22, 46:9; Matt. 28:18–20; 2 Cor. 13:14; Eph. 1:1–14; 1 Pet. 1:2)

Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is fully God and fully man. Conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, Jesus lived a sinless life. He offered Himself as a perfect sacrifice for all mankind by dying on the cross. He rose bodily on the third day, triumphing over sin and death, and ascended to heaven in glory. Jesus is the mediator between God and man, having accomplished reconciliation. He will return to judge the world.
(Isa. 9:6; Matt. 1:22–23; John 1:1–18, 8:58, 10:30, 12:44–50, 14:10–14; Heb. 4:14–15; 1 Cor. 15:3–4; Rom. 1:3–4; Acts 1:9–11; Phil. 2:5–11; 1 Tim. 6:14–15; Titus 2:13; Rev. 5:9–14, 12:10–11, 13:8)

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is God. He inspired the authors of Scripture and enables people to understand the truth. He exalts Christ and convicts the world of sin, calling people to salvation and new birth. Upon regeneration, every believer receives the Holy Spirit. He shapes Christian character, comforts believers, and bestows spiritual gifts to serve God through the church. The Holy Spirit indwells believers, assuring them of salvation and renewing them to become more like Christ. He empowers the church to glorify God through worship, mission, and service.
(John 14:16–17, 15:26, 16:7–14; Acts 1:8; Rom. 8:9–11, 14–16, 26–27; 1 Cor. 2:10–14, 3:16; Eph. 1:13, 5:18; Gal. 5:25)

Humanity

Human beings are the most honored of all creation, made in the image of God. Originally created sinless and with free will, humanity chose to rebel against God and fell into sin, resulting in both physical and spiritual death. Because of sin, people are separated from God and can only be saved and reconciled through the atonement of Jesus Christ.
(Gen. 1:27; Ps. 8:3–6, 51:1–8; Isa. 53:6, 59:1–2; Rom. 3:23, 5:12, 6:23; Eph. 2:1–3)

Salvation

Salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.
Whoever believes in Jesus as Lord of life is saved.
Jesus Christ is the only mediator between God and man; only through Him can one come to the Father.
God keeps His children in Christ to the end, and believers should remain steadfast in the faith.
(Rom. 1:16–18; 3:23–25; 5:8–10; 6:1–23; 8:1–18, 29–39; 10:9–10, 13; Eph. 2:8–22; Titus 2:11–14)

The Church

The Church is composed of those who have been saved through faith in Jesus Christ. Christ is the head of the Church, and the members are His body, sent into the world to witness and proclaim the gospel to all nations. A local church is a community of believers who voluntarily gather for worship, teaching of the Word, prayer, fellowship, evangelism, and the administration of baptism and the Holy Communion. The governance of the local church should follow biblical principles.
(Matt. 16:18; Acts 2:41–47; 1 Cor. 12:12–14; Col. 1:18; Heb. 10:25)

Baptism and the Holy Communion

Jesus commanded His disciples to remember His death and resurrection. He gave two visible signs to the Church as ordinances: Baptism and the Holy Communion.
Though we respect all acts of obedience, we believe Scripture teaches that baptism by immersion is the biblical mode. Believers are baptized once as an act of obedience declaring Jesus as Lord.
The Lord’s Supper is a repeated ordinance to remember Christ’s death, burial, resurrection, and promised return.
Participation in the ordinances should be a personal decision.
Neither ordinance is a means of salvation.
(Matt. 3:13–17; 28:18–20; 26:26–29; Acts 8:35–39; Rom. 6:3–5; 1 Cor. 11:23–32; Col. 2:12)

Stewardship

God is the source of all blessings. Christians are stewards of everything entrusted to them by God.
Therefore, believers should serve God with their time, talents, and finances, recognizing that all they have is from God and should be used to glorify Him and help others.
(Matt. 25:14–29; Rom. 12:1–2; 1 Cor. 4:1–2, 6:12, 19–20; 2 Cor. 8–9)

Missions and Service

It is the responsibility and privilege of every Christian and every church to make disciples of all nations.
The regenerated believer will be filled with love and will be moved to participate in missions.
Every child of God should endeavor to lead the lost to Jesus through personal witness and gospel proclamation.
(Matt. 28:18–20; Acts 1:8; 1 Pet. 2:4–10)

Social Responsibility of the Church

The church’s social responsibility is to influence the world with the love of Christ. Faith should be lived out in action as a witness to the power of the gospel.
On the foundation of evangelism and discipleship, the church should care for the poor and oppressed, promote justice, and bring godly influence to areas such as education, economy, and politics, becoming salt and light in the world.
(James 1:27; Prov. 31:8; Micah 6:8; Matt. 5:13–16)
